The One Thanksgiving Photo I Really Liked

It turns out that if you take a lot of photos, at least one will end up coming out well. This is that one...

Some of the mistakes I will learn from

I have decided that I have one major limitation as a photographer. I am lazy. I am just not really interested in learning the technical skills for taking pictures. I love teaching my eye to see things and often, because I have a camera that automatically adjusts things, my pictures come out just the way I want them to come out. Here are some that didn't. I like the subjects but they all have problems with the lightnight or the contrast or something. One of these days, I am going to just have to take a photography class when I am less busy. It will happen!

These photos were all taking on Thanksgiving.

Hudson Dealership

This is my photo of Ypsilanti's Hudson Dealership. It is also a pretty neat car museum if you are into cars. I walk by this place often when I am on walks with the doggers. This is also pretty much the view I see from the patio at Sidetrack if I happen to be sitting out there.

No Photos

The image hosting site that I use, photobucket.com, is down for the moment. So no photos. They should be back online tomorrow though.

Crissy in the lake

Here is a photo from last fall of Crissy in Lake Erie.

My Yard

This is just a photo of my yard. Yeah, it looks pretty wild but that is how I want it. This is the view of the garden part that is tall and of my cute shed. You cant see the mowed parts because they are behind the tall parts but really, most of my yard is mowed. It just doesnt look like it from this angle.

Brooke and Lake Huron

This is a photo I took earlier this summer while visiting a favorite spot on Lake Huron. It is a beach where I used to spend a lot of time as a child. Just past Oscoda but before Harrisville. It is funny how a place can put one in touch with one's past. This dog, Brooke, looks a lot like the dog I had as a kid, Fonzie. Fonzie spent a lot of time at that beach too. And somehow, that day when I sat there looking out over the blue water, I felt like I was sitting next to an old friend who has known me my whole life.

Ypsi Food Coop

Ypsi Still Life

I was walking on the railroad tracks when I came across some artfully displayed garbage. I just *had* to take a photo and luckily I happened to have my camera with me.

The Lake

This is a photo I took last year of the lake but the lake pretty much looks the same this year.

I like this photo because it was taken on one of those really muggy still days that are perfect for swimming. Just looking at this photo makes me want to go swimming :)

Airport Abstract

This one is kind of a tribute to fotocali who showed me that there pretty much is a photo in anything and looking for those is sure a great way to kill some time in an airport while waiting for a plane...

Another Self Portrait

Cos I am a narcissist. That and I am my most willing subject. :)

Backdoor

I really like this photo. It is just a photo that I took last year of my backdoor. I think it was the first "every day" thing that I captured that I really liked.

Subarubia

Sometimes you just happen across a scene and you just happen to have your camera with you and well...

Sebastopol Parking Lot

I dont know why but whenever I look at groups of photographs that I have taken, I have found that the ones that I like the most are "slice of life" type things. I mean, these are the kinds of things I see whenever I am just sitting somewhere. Usually I dont have my camera or I am too shy to whip it out. On this day though, I was sitting around with fotocali at Whole Foods in Sebastopol and well, one thing about sitting outside Whole Foods with fotocali is that you might as well get out the camera and get over all the shyness about snapping pictures of *whatever* in public. It turns out that some of my favorite shots from California were from when I was sitting there at Whole Foods.

This is one that I liked a lot. I love anonymous people in photographs and I love capturing them as they are just going about their business. This is one of those photographs that calms me (and I have needed some calming lately). Just looking at it, calms me. :)

Father and Daughter

This is one that I like a lot. But I wish I had a good graphics program so I could change it. I love that no one's faces are showing so the photograph is kind of annonymous. I like the beer on the table and I like how the line from the sunlight on the table and the edge of the table itself create lines that draw a person's eye to it. What I dont like about this photo though is the background. I think it is too busy. I would like to try to darken it up without changing what is in the foreground. Hmmm.

I think I might need a new computer if I want to get decent photo manipulation software and since I am going to Hawaii next winter, I guess that will have to wait. Oh well, this photo isnt going anywhere. I can always fix it later. Or not. :)

A Kid

I really liked this photo of a kid that I know. She is a great kid and I think that this photo really captures her personality.

A baby

I was just playing around today with some effects. I thought this one came out ok. It is a "watercolor" effect. :) digital photos are sooooo much fun :)

Self Portrait in my Living Room

There is just something about the way I have been feeling lately that has a real narcissistic quality to it. So, what the heck, I might as well go with it :) There is nothing special about this photograph except that it is a photograph of ME :)

Just Some Trees

These are just a bunch of trees in an empty lot across the street from my parent's house. Unfortunately, land prices have risen a lot in the past few years there so it is only a matter of time before someone decides to build a house there.

Stairs

Ok, this is a photo I took while I was out walking on a beach near Bodega Bay, California. I had a wonderful day and a great walk.

Some ideas.

I know I said that I dont need another blog but now I am thinking that I might. It has occured to me that I might want to have a photo blog and this site seems as good as any. I just have to figure out how to post photos here. I guess that might be a good project for this evening...

I need another blog like I need another hole in my head.

My real blog is The Lynne Show. I pretty much just created this one so I could comment on other people's blogspot blogs.
